Triac - In the Blue Room 7″ & CDEP

OUT NOW (click to order)
Triac In the Blue Room 7

This is a glossy gatefold 7″ with a CD included. They’re numbered and limited to 500 for the first press. 100 on white. 200 on black with white splatter and 200 on white with black splatter.

“There’s a lot of cookie-cutter grind out there infesting the metal bins with sameness, most of it childishly recounting adolescent home surgery fantasies, or sexual deviancy with decaying body parts. Count Triac out of that equation. With vocals more in line with hardcore or noise rock aggression, and changes and progressions owing more to genre-progenitors like Glazed Baby and Today is the Day than anything churned out of the bowels of Nuclear Blast, Baltimore’s Triac adds an edge of realism and truth to a genre awash in conventionality. In addition to the classic, cutting crossover guitar tone, the breakdowns also point to the sludgy mayhem of yesteryear.

Triac is comprised of a virtual who’s who of Baltimore extreme music; one could go on and on about what bands the members have been involved with — but who needs to? It’s in Triac that their talents have truly been given a chance to shine. This May they release their first full length (after a series of split EP’s with east coast scene stalwarts such as Pig Destroyer and Medic) for Reptilian Records.”

From the archives of SF’s famous Target Video comes this monster release from the classic original early 80s line up of Flipper. Capturing extreme and scorching performances from 1980 and 1981, this DVD helps form a picture of the band that slowed down punk rock and made the kids suffer in the ‘louder faster’ days of hardcore. An intense blend of noise, punk and drone music coupled with an in your face attitude and performance style made Flipper one of most ‘out there ‘ bands of the early 80s scene. This DVD features stellar performances from Berkeley and the Kezar and is (mostly) unreleased and incredible snapshot into the other side of ‘American Hardcore.’

On Halloween (of course!) 1986 the gods of punk rock rose from the dead. The original members of the Dead Boys reformed for a short jaunt to pre-Disney NYC and leveled the audience of old heads, burnouts, prostitutes, junkies, geeks and freaks. This DVD is the document of that hallowed evening at the Ritz as Stiv Bators, Cheetah Chrome, Jimmy Zero, Jeff Magnum and Johnny Blitz got it together for one more show in their old stomping grounds.

This DVD spans the entire career of TAD, featuring archival live footage, interviews, music videos, and lost footage, as well as new footage and interviews with the band members and Krist Novoselic (Nirvana), Mark Arm (Mudhoney), Kim Thayil (Soundgarden), Chad Channing (Nirvana), and many others. ‘TAD took the idea of playing LIVE very seriously; it was a life or death matter. This DVD not only stands as testimony to that claim, but it’s also a cinematic document of the world’s HEAVIEST band EVER (as Bruce Pavitt so incisively puts it) bodily stretching that assertion beyond any previously known limitations.
